** This thread discusses the content article: James Toney says Couture will be in a “lose-lose” situation against him **

Recently signed to the Las Vegas based promotion, James “Light’s Out” Toney has been speaking about a proposed fight against UFC “Hall of Famer”, Randy Couture, saying the five time champion would be in a lose-lose situation against him.
Speaking via FiveOuncesOfPain.com, Toney said:

“If a guy gets in there and try to take me to the ground, he might see his head go into orbit. The head is going into orbit, for real. These guys in MMA, they good wrestlers and good grapplers and good kickers, like girls, but, you know, when it comes to throwing them blows, they ain’t got a chance in hell.”

“If you hate me, come see me try to get beat, if you love me, you enjoy the ride, have a good time and eat your popcorn. If he tries to throw blow for blow with me, he definitely gonna get knocked out. That’s a given, you know what I’m saying? If he tries to take me to the ground, it ain’t going to be easy, you know what I’m saying? He’s still gonna get knocked out. Either way, it’s a lose-lose situation for him.”

Man, I never wanted to see someone get dumped more on their head than this guy. He is excellent at playing the heel.

Yeah, Toney vs Couture is almost drifting into that freakshow' territory about Dana's so mindful. It would make money, and honest people can never truly blame someone for making a legal dollar, but the pros of such a bout would pit two styles so polarizing, it's like that show 'Deadliest Warriors' came up with it, and since Toney's younger than Couture, when the Boxing-hyping media gets ahold of this, it won't be 'Dana White threw 40+ year old James Toney in the ring with the monstrous Brock Lesnar or Jiu JItsu ace Frank Mir, two fighters in their prime," but rather, "the 46 (?) year old Couture utilized his grappling skills for a first round TKO of famed boxer James Toney. Both of men past their athletic peak, the MMA legend prevailed with an intuitive ground game."

Basically what I'm trying to say is that Dana will look like he has an agenda by putting him in there with Brock, Mir, Cain, or even Big Nog, because Nog would definitely just shoot for takedowns with his head shelled up for defense, until he got him down, and executed a submission in seconds. It would look like Dana is crucifying this old boxer to make a statement of MMA's supremacy. Toney vs Kimbo might as well take place at a carnival. I will watch it, and it would make unbelievable money, but at one show you have Machida and SHogun's clash of styles and technical brilliance, and then something like that, it just seems inconsistent. I think Toney's going to have a tough road ahead of him no matter who he fights. Against a guy like Kongo, leg kicks will make the fight one-sided by round 2. A guy like Nog or Randy, ground game, with Toney's new stance he's going to try to learn on the fly, he can't defend takedowns like a GSP or BJ Penn, so I hoenstly just don't know
